I think Detroit has the offense and just enough pitching to get to the World Series.

National League:

East
New York Mets

Central
Chicago Cubs

West
Arizona Diamondbacks

Wild Card
Cincinnati Reds

Yes, I think the young guns the Reds have will play well enough to get them to the playoffs. The Diamondbacks made just enough moves to keep them ahead of the Mets. Arizona will win the National League pennant and go to the World Series.

Baseball As I See It

Baseball is. Baseball, they say, is only a game. No, I believe baseball is more than a game. Baseball is a simple game of catch between a father and son. Baseball is a dream that you never really give up on. Baseball is a passion that bonds all who know it.

Baseball is a voice in a box describing men playing a boy’s game. Baseball is a transistor radio in my breast pocket. I believe transistor radios were invented to listen to baseball games. Baseball is a glove, oiled and tightly wrapped, sitting on a shelf. Baseball is the hat I wear when I mow the lawn. Baseball is the smell of freshly cut grass. Baseball is grass, lime and dirt. Baseball is a competitive game of skill played with a hard ball, bat and glove. Baseball is as American as hot dogs and apple pie.

Major league pitchers and catchers just reported to spring training camps. This is the start of another long and exciting baseball season. The drama and intensity of the pennant races is something I look forward to every year. Give me a tense pitching battle with great defense any day. If you’re not a pure baseball fan you just can’t relate.
